BVM visits the Imperial R/C Club

    Located on Route 60 just east of Mulberry, Florida, the Imperial R/C Club Field is just perfect for operating electric jets.  The paved East/West runway and north facing pilot stations are ideally oriented for the prevailing wind and having the sun at your back all day.

     The club had no choice about banning turbine flying a few years ago when a furniture manufacturing plant was erected on the adjoining property.  So, a few jet flying club members like Dee Miller and Sid Rosen chose the BVM Electra to continue to enjoy jets at their local field.

     It was one of those perfect Florida December days.

    Fio assisted Sid Rosen with the test flight on this Electra with EVF 4010 power.  Fio commented that we should add Sid to our list of builders because the model was in perfect trim on its first flight.  Sid was all smiles.
   
    The 63" Sabre ARF with EVF 5212 power operated very well from the Imperial Club Field.  Many observers commented about how fast it is and yet the approach and landing was comfortable on the 500ft strip.
   
    "BVM Sparky" (Chuck McClellan) really touts the efficiency of the EVF 4010 using the latest ('09) LiPo batteries from Flight Power USA.  They are an exclusive BVM product.

    Sparky's typical flight profile of 6 1/2 minutes utilizes 3700-3900 m.a.h. from the available 6500.

    A ground run up on the taxiway with a very accurate push scale registered 14 1/2Lbs. of installed thrust.  The model weighs 14 3/4 Lbs.

    These Saddle CellsTM are 5s 2p each with a 33c rating and are configured specifically to fit into BVM jets like the Electra, Maverick, and Sabre.
   
    Sparky has been testing and really approves of the Cellpro 10s charger.  It can handle charging this pair of 6500 Saddle CellsTM simultaneously and deliver perfect balance every time.  It is very user friendly and available from BVM.
