Insert a 2" X .047" wire into a pin vise then sharpen the end.  Use a Propane torch to heat about 1/2" of the pointed end to red hot.

  Push it through the black side of the aluminum rim until it easily protrudes through the front side of the rim.  Repeat from the otherside.

Note:  You will need to replace the wire occasionally due to effects of the heating process.

 It is handy to use a small hammer to tap the screws through the rubber, then make final engagement into the threads with the small screw driver.
