Johanna and I
had just finished with Super Jets South in GA. when an
opportunity arose to go to a New Jet Rally that is in
its second year in Shreveport LA. A quick phone call
with Bob Covish and we had Terry Monroe's phone number. Come
on over he said, come early and receive some Louisiana
hospitality. So we did.
Randi Walding the manager of CE Rusty Williams Airport in Mansfield, just
south of Shreveport ( and amazing full scale helicopter
pilot too ) was very welcoming to all of us. This may
even become a twice a year event. The airport has a
5000' by 100' runway which has just recently been
resurfaced, so it was perfect for our needs.
As this is only the second year, the rally is still growing as more and
more pilots find out about it. That said, BVM had a very good showing with a beautiful F86, a
1/5th scale PNP F16, 3 Ultra Bandits, 2 Bandit ARF's, 1
KingCat, 1 BobCat composite and 1 BobCat XL which
turned out to be an early prototype that was originally
owned by Tommy Dodgen. As always with BVM products, all
were just fuelled and flown for the three days with 100%
reliability.
Here are a few pics of the guys and girls flying BVM
products.
